Qi Nei Tsang: the belly massage of traditional Chinese medicine

A massage that begins where everything tightens

People often say they have a "knot in the stomach", a "lump in the belly", that they "can't digest" a piece of news. These expressions are not trivial. In traditional Chinese medicine, the belly is considered the centre of the body, the place where physical tension and emotions come to settle.

Qi Nei Tsang is an abdominal massage that comes from this tradition. Its name translates literally as "work on the energy of the internal organs".

It is a slow, deep practice, very different from a classic relaxation massage. We take our time.

In practice

  • Duration: 1h
  • Price: €80
  • Location: Practice in Courbevoie or at home
  • Clothing: You stay dressed
  • Reimbursement: Not covered by the French National Health Insurance (Sécurité sociale). Some health insurance plans may reimburse.
  • Contraindications: the first two days of your period, the first three months of pregnancy, as well as any ongoing abdominal medical situation (recent post-operative, acute inflammation, etc.). If in doubt, talk to me before the session.
  • Training: I was trained in Qi Nei Tsang massage at the Grand Est ETC school.

How a session works

1. The exchange

Before laying hands on you, I take the time to listen. Every session starts with an exchange about what you feel, your story, your expectations. This moment is essential: it allows me to adapt the work to your state on the day.

2. Getting settled

You lie down on the massage table, on your back, with your body relaxed. I cover you with a blanket if needed. The light is soft, silence settles in.

3. The breathing work

I start with a few breathing exercises. The goal: to bring you into contact with your belly, to release the diaphragm. The belly opens. This step is essential and fundamental.

4. The massage

Once the belly is relaxed, I begin the manual work. These are slow, rotary movements, sometimes held. I start near the navel, then widen outward. I work at different levels: deep, superficial, pulsation, percussion. Each gesture has its goal: releasing the blockage, allowing the Qi to flow, undoing the energetic "knots".

5. The rest period

The session never stops abruptly. We leave a moment of rest: you stay a few more minutes on the table, time to come back down. Also a small moment of integration.

What people report

"A sensation of lightness" – Many describe a "dislodgement" in the belly, as if something heavy had finally gone.
"I had never felt that before" – Nothing was forced, but old tensions were able to release. It is the body speaking.
"Neither hot nor cold" – A massage that makes all the difference, neither aggressive nor superficial.
"I felt like I could finally breathe" – The feeling of a real adjustment.

Who is it for?

Qi Nei Tsang is for people who:

  • Live with stress, and the need to relax
  • Suffer from anxiety, carry loaded emotions
  • Feel nausea, acid reflux
  • Have menstrual cycle disorders
  • Have digestive problems and bloating
  • Feel like their belly is "tight"
  • Are pursuing body work

The belly, a second brain?

Scientists have linked the gut to the "second brain". We speak of the Enteric Nervous System, which works in a state of calm and tranquillity. So when we say that Qi Nei Tsang is energy work on the belly, we can only understand that a medicine of the belly can be a complementary session.

Where does Qi Nei Tsang come from?

Qi Nei Tsang draws from the Tao tradition, according to the school of "body medicine", which considers the body as a mesh of details that respond to stimulation.

Qi = vital energy
Nei = internal / internal organs
Tsang = work / manipulation

So it is not a simple relaxation massage, but deep energetic work. An ancestral art of the body.

What I do not do

Some practitioners approach Qi Nei Tsang through the winds; I take rather another direction. Qi Nei Tsang is energy work, not emotion. It is already powerful enough and nothing is forced.

  • No raw pressure – I use contact with the organs, not muscle force
  • No energy manipulations – The session is guided by my intuition, not by a technique
  • No quest for the stain – A practice that happens in exchange, without any religious generality

Feel like trying it?

If the curiosity or the need is there, you can take the first step with me. I am ready to welcome you for a session in Courbevoie or at home.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is it painful? ▼

No. The work is deep but never forced. Some areas can be sensitive, and that is often a sign that there is something to work on in that place. I constantly adapt to your feedback: you can ask me to lighten the pressure at any time.

I am modest, the belly is intimate… ▼

This is a very common and perfectly legitimate reaction. You remain covered with a sheet throughout the session, only the abdominal area is uncovered. We take the time to talk before starting, and nothing is done without your consent.

Do I need to come on an empty stomach? ▼

Ideally, avoid a heavy meal in the two hours before. A light snack is no problem. Coming completely on an empty stomach is not necessary either.

How many sessions do I need? ▼

It depends on you. Some people come occasionally, others opt for more regular support. We discuss it together after the first session, with no obligation.

Can you cry during the session? ▼

Yes, and it happens. The belly is an area where many emotions are stored. If something comes up, it is welcomed without judgment. You can also feel nothing in particular: both are normal.

What is the difference from a classic massage? ▼

A relaxation massage works mainly on the muscles and the surface. Qi Nei Tsang focuses exclusively on the abdomen, with much slower and deeper work, combined with breathing. The intention is different.

Is it compatible with medical care? ▼

Yes, as a complement and never as a replacement. If you are on treatment or have a digestive condition, tell me before the session and ask your doctor's opinion.

Is it reimbursed? ▼

Not by the French National Health Insurance (Sécurité sociale). Some health insurance plans cover part of the wellness massage sessions: check directly with yours. I do not have an ADELI number.
